ISLAMABAD March 19 (TNS): The Supreme Court on Monday expressed its dissatisfaction on a report submitted by the Inter-Services Intelligence on the Faizabad sit-in staged by Tehreek-e-Labaik chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi in November last year.
The apex court bench headed by Justice Qazi Faez Isa resumed hearing in the suo moto case regarding the Faizabad sit-in and it observed that the report lacked details covering the income or the source of Rizvi despite the fact that the agency had been told to submit a detailed report.
The court pointing to the deputy attorney general, who had submitted the report on behalf of the ISI, wondered while he was satisfied with the report but the matter of the fact was that the agency even could determine the source of income of Rizvi, whether he is a teacher, or a businessman, or at least, he works somewhere Justice Isa said that after reading the report, he felt pity for the country as billions of rupees property was destroyed by Rizvi and his supporters. The court asked the official to submit a fresh report before adjourning the hearing for two-weeks. The court also directed PEMRA to submit a report about Rizvi’s invectives circulating on the social media and what measures have been taken to take them off the social networking websites.
Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad ordered to arrest Rizvi and Afzal Qadri in the Faizabad sit-in case after they failed to appear before the court.
The ATC directed the police to arrest Rizvi and Qadri and present them before the court on April 4 with a complete charge-sheet against them.
Earlier, the ATC declared Rizvi, Qadri, Maulana Inayat and Shekih Izhar absconders after they failed to appear before. The court observed that they would be declared proclaimed offenders if they did not appear at the next hearing.
