Islamabad, March 20 (TNS): A Supreme Court bench on Tuesday banned anchorperson Shahid Masood from hosting his programme for three months for making concocted claims and fabrications in a rape and murder case, and for being intransigent despite being failed to prove his claims.
The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Justice Saqib Nisaron asked him to submit a written apology to the court over his objectionable remarks against the law officer and other members of the court.
The anchor an unconditional verbal apology for failing to prove his allegations against Imran Ali, the convicted rapist and murderer of six-year-old Zainab in Kasur.
The chief justice dismissed the verbal apology and said: “I will not forgive you without a punishment. The bench later banned his programme for three months and ordered him to submit a written apology. Justice Nisar also directed Masood’s counsel Shah Khawar to realise his client in his own language that courts were not be taken as granted and they knew how to get respect.
