Islamabad April 7 (TNS): Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has formed a new bench to hear the high treason case against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, who has fled the country and currently living in Dubai.

The earlier bench was dissolved after Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi recused himself from hearing the case after Musharraf’s counsel raised an objection to his inclusion in the bench stating.

The newly formed bench, which is yet to be notified formally by the law ministry, will now be headed by Lahore High Court Chief Justice Yawar Ali. Sindh High Court judge Nazar Akbar has also been included in the bench.

On March 21, the special court ordered the confiscation of Musharraf’s properties after he failed to show up for the hearing.
