Quetta April 7 (TNS): Outpatient departments (OPDs) of all major hospitals remained shut on Saturday as young doctors and the paramedical staff went on strike after the deadline demanding to issue a notification for service structure ended as the health authorities spurred their demand.
Patients visiting the hospitals in Quetta, Turbat, Kharan, Dera Bughti and other cities face hardships as the protesting doctors and paramedical staff closed down OPDs by locking them.
The protesting doctors and the paramedical staff have been demanding a new service structure and a pay raise to compensate the labour they put to treat and take care of the influx of patients.
They announced that OPDs will remain closed across the province for an indefinite time.
Earlier, the doctors gave the 48 hours deadline to the provincial government to accept their demands and issue a notification.
Earlier speaking at a press conference, Young Doctors’ Association President Dr Yasir Khosti said that the provincial government was victimizing the doctors and fake cases have been registered against members of YDA the paramedical staff.
