Islamabad April 18 (TNS): Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday ordered owner of Jang and Geo Mir Sakeel-ur Rehaman to pay salaries of journalists and media workers or face legal proceedings.
When the court resumed hearing in the suo moto case, Mir Shakeel’s counsel appeared in the court and informed the bench that his client was out of the country with some pressing engagement. When the counsel claimed that his client did not have any channel in his name, the chief justice reminded him that everyone knows that who owns Geo and Jang.
The chief justice regretted that Mir Shakeel speaks ill of judges.

The top judge remarked that the workers and journalists of Jang and Geo have not been paid since January.
The bench put off of the hearing till Monday and directed Mir Shakeel to appear in the court at the next hearing and if he failed to show up, the law will take its course over the outstanding dues and salaries of workers.
