PESHAWAR April 19 (TNS): The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday arrested Qazi Muhammad Anwar, owner of Qazi Trade Centre Peshawar, for allegedly cheating the public at large.
A NAB spokesman said that Qazi Anwar and others in the garb of fake construction business collected money from innocent people on the promise to hand over to them their respective developed expensive shops in Qazi Trade Centre Plaza situated on Ring Road.
The accused persons advertised the project widely to attract investment in the business without having ownership of the land identified for the plaza nor having an NOC from Peshawar Development Authority (PDA).
Due to prime location of the plaza, scores of innocent people invested millions of rupees and at the end, the accused persons neither handed over possession of the shops nor return their deposited amount.
The accused will be produced before the accountability court Peshawar for a physical remand.
