Karachi April 20 (TNS): An anti-terrorism court on Saturday extended the physical remand of former SSP Rao Anwar and 11 other suspects in the Naqeebullah murder case till May 2.

Investigation Officer Dr Rizwan presented the suspects in the court amid tight security and sought further remand of the suspects as according to him further investigation was required before a final report was submitted to the court.

The ATC judge accepted the investigation officer’s plea and granted physical remand of the suspects till May 2.

Dr Rizwan briefly told reporters that the investigation was underway and they were investigating the case from different angles.

Earlier, the anti-terrorism court remanded Anwar to police custody for one month in the killing of Mehsood in a fake encounter in Karachi in January.

Anwar made a dramatic appearance and surrendered to the Supreme Court on March 21 after hiding from authorities for weeks after a case was registered against him and his team. Around 10 suspects in the murder case are still at large.
