Barcelona conquer 30th Copa Del Rey Title, as Iniesta hints exit

Madrid, April 23 (TNS): Catalonia giants won their 30th Copa Del Rey title for the second time in a row on Sunday. Barcelona thumped eighth place Sevilla 5-0 in the final of the Copa Del Rey to conquer silverware.

The Catalonia outfit dominated the game throughout the 90 minutes in the Wanda Metropolitano stadium as Luis Suarez broke the deadlock in the 14th minute courtesy a splendid pass from former Liverpool team-mate Phillipe Coutinho.

The Argentina superstar Leo Messi doubled the lead at the half-hour mark, the maestro has now scored 28 goals in cup finals.

Suarez then notched a brace in the 40th minute to make it 3-0, five minutes before half time.

Andres Iniesta and Phillipe Coutinho, then put the icing on the cake as they made it, 5-0 to complete the thrashing. The later scoring a penalty.

Iniesta’s Send off

Veteran midfielder Andres Iniesta, was in tears when he got a standing ovation from the stadium as he was substituted in the second half after scoring an emphatic goal.

The 33 year old said after the game,” I will make my future plans clear (to the public) this week”

The 2010 world cup winner gave a hint before the season that this could be his last season with tha catalonia giants.

Iniesta made his debut in 2002 and even after sixteen years he is still the heart of Barcelona’s midfield. The La Liga and Copa Del Rey trophy could be the last golden pages in the illustrious story of the Barcelona captain.
