Cairo, April 26 (TNS): Muslim footballer Mohamed Salah, ruling the world, offered a piece of land in holy city of Makkah after winning the Premier League’s Players’ Player of the Year with his incredible 41-goal debut season, Egyptian media reported.
According to report, Vice President of the local municipality Fahad Al Rooqi announced on Monday that he plans to give Egyptian footballer the piece of land as a congratulatory gesture.
“It all depends on the player and on the regulations. In case he is allowed to own land in Makkah, he can keep it. He can also use it to build a mosque or launch a charitable foundation. He can also sell the land and keep the money,” Al Rooqi told Saudi news site Sabq.
He said he was encouraged to give Salah this piece of land to show his support for youth with potential and the ones who should be idolized.
Saudi English language newspaper Saudi Gazette reported that the gesture of donating a piece of land to the famous Egyptian soccer player, Mohammed Salah, has stirred a lot of controversy because under the local law foreigners are not allowed to own property in the Holy City.
