LHC summons two PML-N MNA’s for holding protest demonstration against judiciary

LAHORE, May 03 (TNS): The Lahore High Court (LHC) Wednesday summoned PML-N MNA Waseem Akhtar and MPA Naeem Safdar Ansari for May 4 on a petition seeking their disqualification over allegedly holding a protest demonstration against judiciary.

The three-member bench headed by Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi passed the orders on the petition filed by Kasur District Bar Association President Mirza Naseem.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that on April 13, the parliamentarians and local government leaders, brought out a protest rally.

He said PML-N MNA Waseem Akhtar and MPA Safdar Ansari led the protest while chairmen and vice chairmen of the localunion councils were among the prominent participants. He pleaded that the act of the respondent parliamentarians amounted to contempt of court.

The bench after recording initial arguments summoned PML-N MNA Waseem Akhtar, MPA Naeem Safdar Ansari and others for May 4. The court directed RPO Sheikhupura and DPO Kasur to ensure the presence of respondents, on the next date of hearing.
