ISLAMABAD May 4(TNS): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday has strongly condemned Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s statement regarding calling caretaker government as alien and termed it as unconstitutional.
The spokesman ECP said that the commission will conduct the general elections not any alien, adding that such statements are only based on speculations and assumptions.
Political leaders who are at important posts in their parties should refrain from giving such statements as these are equal to making fun of the constitution, he asserted.
The spokesman clarified that ECP would not compromise on holding fair and transparent elections in the country.

Earlier, PM Abbasi has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will take part in the upcoming general elections despite the aliens, not the caretaker government would hold elections.
Abbasi said that the PML-N would compromise with the opposition on the caretaker PM’s names, adding that whatever name Leader of Opposition Syed Khursheed Shah would propose, they will support.
