PESHAWER, May 10 (TNS): Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar Wednesday showed dissatisfaction and displeasure over the pathetic condition of Mental Hospital and Central Jail Peshawar.
He was the first dignitary in last two to three decades who visited the hospital and showed concerns over the unhygienic environment of Institute of Mental Health Peshawar, a Supreme Court press release said.
The chief justice summoned chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the hospital and showed him extremely poor conditions of the hospital that had been neglected by the government. He also visited Central Prison Peshawar where he observed that prisoners were overcrowded.
He also headed a bench at the Supreme Court Branch Registry Peshawar and heard many important cases relating to public interest. His lordship also met litigants and heard their problems.
