Leicestershire, May 19 (TNS): Pakistan got off to a solid start in the two-day warm-up game against Leicestershire ahead of the testing series against England, as they won the toss and elected to best first.

Fakhar Zaman set a solid base to the Pakistan innings and scored a sumptuous half-century in a hundred run partnership with Azhar Ali.

Fresh from the victory against Ireland in Malahide, Pakistan will now take on the Leicestershire County for two days before taking off to London, for the Lord’s Test against England on May 24th.

Muhammad Abbas who bagged 9 wickets in the one-off test against Ireland, has also played for the Leicestershire County and Paul Nixon knows what he possesses in his Arsenal.

“We know how much quality Muhammad Abbas possesses and the skill he can bowl with,” said Nixon. “It’ll be great to see him back at the Fischer County Ground and to catch up with him before he returns in the middle of June after the Test series.”

The format of the warm-up game is an innings each and both sides can face up to 100 overs of bowling in the two day Test.
