Sabika Sheikh victim of US school shooting laid to rest in Karachi

Karachi May 23 (TNS): The Pakistani schoolgirl Sabika Sheikh, who was killed in an attack on a Texas school, was laid to rest at Azeempura Graveyard in the metropolis’ Shah Faisal Colony, after offering funeral prayers at Hakim Saeed Ground in Karachi.

Prominent personalities including chief minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Governor Sindh Mohammad Zubair, PSP chief Mustafa Kamal, PPP leader Saeed Ghani, representatives from other political parties and people from all walks of life attended the funeral prayer.

Earlier, her dead body was brought to Karachi from the United States and handed over to her father Abdul Aziz Sheikh.

Sabika Sheikh was among, ten people, mostly students, were killed when a teenage classmate armed with a shotgun and a revolver opened fire in Texas’ Santa Fe high school on Friday, the latest deadly school shooting to hit the United States after the Florida massacre earlier this year.

The gunman, who was identified as Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a 17-year-old junior at Santa Fe High School was arrested on murder charges.
