Washington DC, May 26 (TNS): The United States-North Korean summit may be extended beyond June 12 and is not canceled yet despite the recent letter by Donald Trump hinting at putting off the Meeting.
“We are having very productive talks with North Korea about reinstating the Summit which, if it does happen, will likely remain in Singapore on the same date, June 12th., and, if necessary, will be extended beyond that date” Trump tweeted.
On Thursday, the US President called off the much-anticipated United States-North Korea summit. The US President blamed the ‘hostility’ and anger displayed by North Korea about the US-South Korea Max military drills for canceling the summit.
Whereas Pyongyang called US President’s decision to cancel the talks ‘unexpected’ and says open to dialogue ‘at any time’.
Trump said in a press release “Sadly, based on the enormous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, l feel it is inappropriate at this time to have this long-planned meeting.”
It was followed by Trump’s statement through which he counter-attacked North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un saying the lack of steps taken towards denuclearization may jeopardize the upcoming summit.
