Panama case: PML-N huddle weighs in on options

Islamabad July 7: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday chaired a high-level meeting with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz top guns at the PM House to discuss the current political situation and weighed in on options to deal with the Panama Papers case, should the Supreme Court hands down a hostile verdict.

The meeting discussed the ongoing probe of the Panama Papers case by the Joint Investigation Team, which is going to submit its report to the Supreme Court on July 10.

Law Minister Zahid Hamid briefed the participants about the next plan of action in the wake of the JIT report.

The meeting decided to utilize all legal and constitutional options at an appropriate time to fight out the challengers and antagonists.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar briefed the meeting about the overall economic situation of the country with a special focus on the recent dip in the stock exchange as well as the sudden depreciation of the Pakistani currency against the US dollar.
