Colombia outclass Poland to keep their hopes alive in World Cup

Kazan, June 25 (TNS): Colombia put up a solid performance on Monday in a must-win game against Poland as they ran out comfortable winners by 3-0 in Kazan Arena.

They Columbians pressed high and closed down spaces from start to finish denying Poland any chances, especially Robert Lewandowski who looked lacklustre and out of sorts in the game, neither did he get any significant service from his supporting ranks.

Barcelona’s new signing Yerry Mina put Colombians in lead and a Polish team with no real penetration in the final third went into halftime trailing 1-0.

AS Monaco star Radamel Falcao then doubled the lead as he got past Polish keeper Wojciech Szczęsny to put salt in the wounds of the Polish camp.

James Rodriguez then set up another assist for 30-year-old Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado to seal the match for Colombia in the 75th minute once and for all.

James Rodriguez Columbia’s no. 10, was named the man of the match for his outstanding performance in midfield setting up two goals in the process.

Columbia will now face Senegal on Thursday, where even a draw will knock them out of the world cup.

It’s a must-win game for Colombia and it will be on shoulders of James Rodriguez and 32-year-old Radamel Falcao to get his side over the line again.
