Abid Sher Ali rues his decision of recounting as he loses 701 more votes in NA-108

Faisalabad, August 2 (TNS): In an embarrassing defeat Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Abid Sher Ali rued his decision of vote recounting as he lost 701 more votes against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)candidate Farrukh Habib in NA-108.

In the preliminary results Abid Sher Ali bagged 111,529 votes whereas Farrukh Habib got 112,740 votes, a contest in which the former home minister lost by a slight margin of 1,211, following this result Abid Sher Ali demanded recounting of votes in his constituency..

After the recounting process was over, Abid Sher Ali’s vote count was reduced to around 701 votes while PTI candidate Farrukh Habib retained similar number of votes and was declared the winner.

On the other hand after complaints of rigging from various political parties, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has denied all claims of rigging, claiming that Form 45s were provided to agents of all political parties.

It has asked that political parties to approach the commission with formal complaints, which it has assured will be addressed.
