RAWALPINDI, Aug. 14 (TNS): Prisoners of Adiala jail also celebrated 71st Independence Day on Tuesday as the prison was decorated with national flags.

A ceremony was held at the community hall of the jail, which was addressed by the jail Superintendent Saeedullah Gondal.

The ceremony was kicked off by recitation of Holy Quran and Naat-e-Nabi (PBUH).
In his speech, the jail superintendent highlighted the sacrifices given by the elders during independence movement.

At the ceremony, the prisoners sang national songs, delivered speeches, which were coupled with other performances by the inmates.

Musical chair programme, patriotic songs and speech competitions added fun to the Independence Day celebrations for the jail inmates.

Naveed Rauf, Deputy Inspector General Prison Rawalpindi Region, was the chief guest on the occasion who was accompanied by DSP General Farukh.

The ceremony was concluded by cake cutting.
Cake and sweets were distributed among prisoners, personnel of police, Rangers and Army deployed for security of central jail.

The women prisoners also participated in the celebrations.
