Islamabad, August 17 (TNS): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Imran Khan will go head on against each other on Thursday, as National Assembly (NA) elects it leader of the house.

The session of National Assembly will commence from 3:30pm to elect the upcoming Prime Minister of Pakistan.

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser scrutinised nomination papers of both the candidates and declared them acceptable.

According to sources Asif Ali Zardari has decided to refrain from taking part in the polls and has directed his party, Pakistan People’s Party to backout from the electoral process.

The reason for not taking part in the electoral process is the opposition’s nominee Shehbaz Sharif, a candidate which the top brass of PPP does not approve.

Which means that Asif Ali Zardari will not attend the historic session of the National Assembly that will elect its 22nd Prime Minister.

Citing Shehbaz Sharif’s statements against Asif Ali Zardari in the past, PPP has decided not to back the opposition’s candidate.
