Banking Court issues red warrants against Asif Ali Zardari

Karachi, August 17 (TNS): Non-bailable arrest warrants have been issued by the banking court in Karachi against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in money laundering case on Friday.

Along with issuing red warrants the banking court has summoned the former president on September 4 for investigation of the case.

The Banking court has also issued arrest warrants of other absconders involved in the case such as Naseer Abdullah, Aslam Masood, Arif Khan, Noreen Sultan, Adnan Javed and others.

Karachi’s session court had earlier declared Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur as absconders in the money laundering scam.

Earlier, Talpur had filed a plea to extend her bail period which was later extended by the court until September 4.

Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur and their accomplices are accused of a money laundering scam, which includes sending Rs35 billion abroad through fake bank accounts following which their names were placed on Exit Control List (ECL).
