ECC approves additional export of sugar

Islamabad, July 18 (TNS): The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Tuesday approved l export of additional 0.3 Million Metric Tons of sugar.

This new export quota is in addition to quantity already approved.

A meeting of ECC chaired by Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar finalized the decision which was taken keeping in view the recommendations of the Inter-Ministerial Committee.

Inter-Ministerial Committee had been formed by the Prime Minister and the Sugar Advisory Board.

On first-come and first-serve basis, the State Bank of Pakistan will approved and monitored the export quota.

According to statement issued after the meeting, the ECC also agreed a proposal of the Ministry of Industries and Production to grant exemption on importing goods from value added tax.

The proposal is obligatory under a provision of a proposed agreement between two countries on Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
