International, local eateries fined for unhygienic food

Islamabad, July 20 (TNS): On the directions of Additional Deputy Commissioner General Abdul Sattar Isani, Assistant Commissioner Rural Dr. Waqar Ali Khan carried out inspection raids on international and local food outlets in Bahria Town.

TNS has learnt that raids were conducted on Chayay-Khana Phase 4, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Butterfly Golf and Country Club, restaurant of Cineplex Gold under sections 269 PPC, 273 PPC and West Pakistan Pure Food Ordinance 1960.

During raid inspection team found unhealthy food and unhygienic atmosphere in eateries’ kitchens and stores.

Meanwhile, Proceedings under the Labour Act and Child labour laws have also been initiated.

Samples of food products have been forwarded to the Food and the Health department for Laboratory Testing.

A total fine Rs. 160,000 imposed on restaurants, with substandard food and violators of laws, during raids, officials told TNS.

Other than this, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner General Abdul Sattar Isani, AC Rural Dr. Waqar Ali Khan also took action in PWD and amongst others, a shop was sealed under Section 285 and 286 PPC for selling of open petrol and other combustible material without having N.O.C from the District Administration.
