ISLAMABAD (TNS) The 27th Amendment has become part of the Constitution of Pakistan. The 27th Constitutional Amendment has been made to implement the Charter of Democracy.
The aim of the amendment is to strengthen the judiciary and improve the defense system. Through this amendment, an attempt has been made to give constitutional status to the post of Field Marshal, which will strengthen transparency and constitutional foundations in the defense structure. By giving constitutional status to the post of Field Marshal, its powers and term will be determined in the constitution.
The aim of this amendment is to make the defense structure strong and transparent. The aim of this amendment is to strengthen the judiciary, so that it can work better in constitutional matters. After approval from the Senate, the 27th Constitutional Amendment was also passed by a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly.
234 members voted in favor of the constitutional amendment while 4 voted against it. Earlier, all 59 clauses of the 27th Constitutional Amendment were passed by a two-thirds majority, after which final approval was given.
The voting process was done from the division, members voting in favor of and against the amendment were instructed to go to separate lobbies. The 27th Constitutional Amendment was passed in the National Assembly, with 234 votes in favor of the amendment and four votes against it.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while speaking in the National Assembly, said that today this House showed great solidarity, there was thorough consultation on the 27th Amendment and today it became part of the Constitution. Anything that weakens the federation, no matter how good it is, is not useful for Pakistan. Kalabagh Dam is a great economic project, but nothing is above our national unity. If the federation is harmed by the Kalabagh Dam, I am not in favor of it.
It is clearly written in the Charter of Democracy that a constitutional court will be established. I am grateful to Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi. I requested the Chief Justice to resolve revenue cases quickly. Thank God, revenue-related cases were resolved on merit. The Chief Justice will head the Supreme Judicial Council, Judicial Commission and Law and Justice Commission. Foreign hands are involved in terrorist incidents in the country. India, the banned BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army) and TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) were also involved in the Jafar Express incident. We will not allow any obstacle to hinder Pakistan’s progress and prosperity. The Afghan Taliban regime is constantly being asked to rein in the banned TTP. Brave soldiers and officers are making sacrifices in the war against terrorism. Our brave soldiers and officers are sacrificing their lives to secure the future. The world is seeing the reward of 40 years of Afghan hospitality today. Let the terrorists take Kulgam. We are ready to walk with you. The word Federal Constitutional Court has been added to Article 6, Clause 2 of the Constitution, and the word Supreme Court has been added to Article 10 of the Constitution. Article 176 has been amended to provide that the current Chief Justice shall be called the Chief Justice of Pakistan until the completion of the term. Article 255, Clause 2 has been amended to provide that, after the current term, the Chief Justice of Pakistan shall be the senior-most Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court. Now the land of Afghanistan will not be allowed to be used against Pakistan, I pay tribute to the officers and soldiers for the courage with which the students of Wana were rescued. The constitutional amendment we are bringing today, we have a majority, no one’s father can abolish the 18th Amendment. Constitutional amendments are approved by consensus, not by majority vote. The 26th Constitutional Amendment was also approved unanimously, and the 18th Amendment was also approved unanimously by all parties. The provinces were given rights through the 18th Amendment. Terrorism is once again rising in the country, everyone will have to unite against terrorism and enemies of the country, the nation is united against the sedition of the Khawaj. The job of the opposition is not just to cry for its leader, the job of the opposition is to keep an eye on the government, the opposition should play its role in legislation. PML-N and PP have suffered from Iftikhar Chaudhry’s suo motu, today we are going to correct the mistake of the past, after the 27th Constitutional Amendment, there will be no suo motu notice. We are grateful to the government for accepting our proposal, even those who oppose the 27th Constitutional Amendment will agree that this is a big success. All provinces will be represented on the basis of equality in the Constitutional Court. During Bilawal Bhutto’s speech, the opposition raised slogans. The government needed the support of 224 members for the amendment, after Khursheed Shah attended the meeting, the government had 234 members.
