LAHORE, Aug 11 (TNS): The PML-N candidate Begum Kulsoom Nawaz will file her nomination papers today. PML-N has decided to field Kalsoom Nawaz, wife of the ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, for NA-120 by-election contest.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) Dr. Yasmeen Rashid has submitted her nomination papers for by-election in NA-120 Lahore which fell vacant following the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif by the Supreme Court.
Dr Rashid, who has been given ticket by PTI for the by-election, submitted his nominations papers to Returning Officer of NA-120 bye-election.
Dr Rashid was accompanied by local PTI leaders to the RO office.
It is to be mentioned here that Yasmeen Rashid had also filed a petition against political activities of former PM Nawaz Sharif with Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Under section 5 of the Political Parties Order 2002 the petition has been filed. The ECP had been requested to bar Nawaz Sharif from political activities.
It is to be mentioned here that 49 nominations papers have been obtained from provincial Election Commission. Nomination papers can be submitted till August 12.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted from August 15 to 17. Candidates can file objection on the decision of Returning Officer on August 21. The candidates intending not to contest the election can withdraw their nomination papers on August 25 and the RO will issue final list of candidates on August 26.
Polling for the by-election will be held on September 17, 2017.
