Pakistan working to build stable environment for development: Ahsan tell Chinese daily

Beijing, Sept. 29 (TNS): Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal says regional cooperation is inevitable to counter terrorism as Pakistan seeks to build stable environment for development, Chinese media reported on Friday.

In an interview with China state-run Global Times, he said all the countries have to work together to promote stability and peace in the region.

He said if any region of the world is insecure, it has the potential to destabilize the whole world.

The Minister said that since the launch of major anti-terrorism operations by the Government, Pakistan has broken the back of the terrorist groups.

He emphasized the need for engaging all regional countries for an amicable solution to the Afghan problem.

He said due to instability in Afghanistan we are facing threat of infiltration from Afghanistan to Pakistan through the western border.

Referring to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Ahsan Iqbal said thousands of Chinese workers living in Pakistan are our national heroes as they are working to help Pakistan develop.

He noted that Pakistan has raised the number of Special Force to about 15,000 personnel working full time to provide security to CPEC projects and Chinese nationals who are working in Pakistan.
