Karachi, April 4 (TNS): Pakistan secured No.1 spot in the T-20 rankings as they chased the target by 8 wickets in the third game of the series against West Indies and whitewashed the opposition.
Pakistan was dominant throughout the series as the inflicted a 3-0 whitewash to the windies.
The Green-shirts thrashed them by 143 runs and 82 runs in the first and second T-20 respectively.
Windies, however, showed a better resistance with the bat this time around as Andre Fletcher provided them with the base to build the innings with a swashbuckling knock of 52 and later Dinesh Ramdin provided the finishing touch with a blistering 42 off just 18.
In reply, Pakistan got off to a flying start as Fakhar Zaman started thrashing the bowlers all over the park. He provided the impetus to the run-chase with a 17 ball 40. Babar Azam from the other end played the anchor role of keeping the innings together and made another flamboyant half-century for his side.
Green shirts reached the target with 19 balls to spare.
This means that under the captaincy of Sarfraz Ahmed Pakistan has achieved series wins over sides like England, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka and the World XI.
The whitewash has now escalated Pakistan to no.1 spot in the world in the shortest format of the game with 130 rating points, Australia is four points behind at 126.
Babar Azam was named Man of the Series in the prestigious post series ceremony and he dedicated his award to the joyful and vibrant crowd of Karachi.
