PESHAWAR, Apr 11 (TNS): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Wednesday passed a bill to prevent corporal punishment to children in schools.
The legislation will help prevention of incidents of corporal punishment of students in government and private schools. The parents move to courts against corporal punishment in schools and the accused often set free due to absence of a law.
The present draft has been prepared by the KP government in the light of Peshawar High Court’s direction for solution of this issue.The legislation would be applicable on all government and private schools and violators will be awarded six moths imprisonment or Rs50,000 fine or both the sentences.
The Cabinet also approved to ink Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with British Council for providing training to 83,000 teachers besides up-gradation of schools to provide better education facilities to students of the province.
The MoU would be inked between Elementary and Secondary Education KP and British Council under which 83,000 teachers would be imparted training through 480 master trainers in the province. The Cabinet also approved amendment in provision of hydel development fund under which KP government can spend this fund for other objectives in interest of public service.

The Cabinet also approved legislation for appointment of permanent Managing Director, Bank of Khyber (BoK) for three years on the basis of merit besides development funds for district council Charsadda.
The Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak has directed to ensure judicious and uniformed distribution of funds. He took strong notice to poor standard solarization lights in the streets by the Tehsil Municipal Administration and directed for its improvement standards for benefits of masses.
