Dubai, May 20 (TNS): Pakistan’s 37-year-old all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been given seven days to explain his comments about the ICC, a sports website reported on Sunday.

Hafeez has been served a show cause notice by the Pakistan Cricket Board following his outburst against the ICC’s own process of calling suspect actions, writes Cricinfo.

Hafeez has three times been cited for an illegal action in his career but has put in the effort required to adapt his action to be accepted back into the fold.

Nonetheless, he was outspoken in his disapproval of the ICC’s processes and procedures. ‘I have my doubts about this calling system. This is suspicious. Why are match referees or on-field umpires not able to see those flexing up to 35 [degrees], but me with 16 degrees?’ said Hafeez.

Hafeez’s comments did not initially draw a reaction from the PCB, but now that the ICC has zeroed in on him, his Board has put a seven-day deadline on him to explain and defend his comments. He has also been barred from making any further comments to the media.
