“Gold” becomes Akshay Kumar’s ninth film to enter coveted 100 crore club

New Delhi, August 28 (TNS): Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Gold’ has finally crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark on its 13th day at box office to become the actor’s ninth film to enter the coveted club.

The film, which hit the theatres on Independence Day, has earned a whopping Rs. 100.45 crore. Film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to make the announcement, writing, “#Gold crosses Rs. 100 cr mark on Day 13… Week 2 Fri 1.85 cr, Sat 3.10 cr, Sun 4.75 cr, Mon 1.45 cr. Total: Rs. 100.45 cr. India biz… Akshay Kumar’s ninth film in Rs. 100 cr Club.”

In the flick, the ‘Padman’ star plays the role of Tapan Das, a character which is based on the man who led India to win gold at the 1948 London Olympics. ‘Gold’ marked the debut of TV sensation Mouni Roy on the big screen.

The sports drama also boasts of an ensemble cast including Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Singh, and Sunny Kaushal, among others.
