Sarfraz says consistency in team performance is key target

Lahore, July 13 (TNS): Newly appointed Test captain Sarfraz Ahmed has said that consistency in team performance to be focused on.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday, wicketkeeper-batsman said that consistent in their performances in limited overs cricket is team’s next big target.

Pakistan recently won ICC Champions Trophy by beating arch rival India in the final of the mega event however the captain thinks there is still room for improvement.

“Our fans expect a lot from the team after we’ve won the title of Champions Trophy,” Sarfaraz said.

“After coming back the team and management talk about new hopes and discussed ways to maitain consistency in performances of the national team” the captasin said adding that “Next target of the team is to improve out performances we are optimistic to give better results in the forthcoming series and events.”

Sarfaraz – 30 – thinks that the courage displayed by the team members during the mega event has given motivations and foundation of revival of the cricket in the country.

He added that: “The way Pakistan team grabbed the epic victory in ICC Champions Trophy; it helped us resuscitate cricket fever in the country.

“The youth of Pakistan are more paying attention towards the cricket now. It was a victory for Pakistan and  credited goes to all players and the management,” the captain went on saying.

When asked about his coordination with seniors, Sarfaraz clarified that as a captain he has great harmonization with senior players like Hafeez and Shoaib Malik adding that he always seeks their suggestions and they never hesitate to help.
