Islamabad, July 22 (TNS): A female journalist has filed an application in Karachi Company Police Station over alleged harassment by an official of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The unfortunate incident took place in the PIMS, when the FIA officials resorted to poor behaviour and harassed and assaulted the reporters, who were at the PIMS for coverage of Security & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Zafar Hijazi who was brought to PIMS for examining his health condition.

The chairman was taken into custody by the FIA soon after the rejection of his bail plea on record tampering charges. However, he was abruptly shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a medical checkup due to a poor health state.

The FIA officials maltreated a private TV channel reporter, Saba, and tried to snatch mobiles and cameras from her and other journalists, who were there to film the FIA protocol given to the SECP chairman.

The female said that FIA Assistant Director forced her to delete the video and picture of the SECP chairman’s protocol. She said that the SECP’s son started swearing at the journalists.

The SECP chairman’s son and relatives also attacked media-men, who were trying to protect their female colleague from being maltreated by the FIA.
