Quetta June 08 (TNS): Security forces killed 12 ISIS terrorists during an operation carried out in a mountainous area of Mastung in Balochistan.
ISPR Director-General Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor while sharing further deatails of the Mastung operation said that the operation was carried out between June 1 and June 3 on a tip-off about the presence of ISIS terrorists in a tunnel in the mountainous area. According to the ISPR chief, some of those killed in the operation were also involved in an attack on Deputy Senate Chairman Ghafoor Haideri while two of them were suspected suicide bombers.
The operation was carried out as part of the operation Raddul Fassad. According to the ISPR chief, a huge cache of arms and explosives including six rocket launchers and machine guns were recovered from the slain terrorists.
The ISPR chief said that the operation was carried out in a 36-kilomtre long tunnel near Aspalti that was under the use of the terrorists affiliated with the ISIS and Lashkar Jhangvi, which has established links with Daesh. Gen Ghafoor said that the terrorists put up stiff resistance and security forces faced an uphill task to clear the tunnel and residual areas.
