Rahim Yar Khan, July 7 (TNS): At least three people were injured as a security guard of a local college opened fire over a minor issue.
According to officials, the incident occurred when young men were picking some dates off the palm trees within Iqra Degree College at Sadiqabad, a town in South Punjab, near Rahim Yar Khan.
The security guard stopped them but young men kept picking dates off the trees which provoked the guard, who then, opened direct fire.
As a result of firing three men sustained injuries who – later on – shifted to nearby hospital by Rescue 1122 personnel who rushed to the scene soon after the incident.
The injured men were residents of Haq-Town of Sadiqabad and identified as Nauman, Adnan and Saaim.
Deputy Commissioner Suqrat Aman Rana also reached the spot and ordered an inquiry into the incident.
He said strict action would be taken against the accused guard as well as the administration of the college.
Deputy Commissioner also advised medics to provide the best treatment to the injured persons.
