RAWALPINDI, July 27 (TNS): Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) Pakistan has seized drugs weighing 91 kg and during nine counter-narcotics operations conducted across the country, officials said on Thursday.
The ANF arrested seven drug peddlers and also impounded three vehicles from their possession. The seized drugs worth Rs 103 million in the international market, comprise of 89 kg hashish, 1.2 kg opium, 545 gram heroin and 400 gram ecstasy tablets.
According to details, ANF Quetta on pursuance of information seized an unattended Toyota Corona car parked near Mor Pul, Tehsil Khanozai, District Pishin. Search of the car led to seizure of 26 kg hashish which was concealed in improvised cavities of the car. As per initial reports, the drugs were intended to be handed over to another narcotics gang.
In another operation, ANF Quetta raided near new truck stand located at Shehrag, Tehsil and District Harnai and recovered 3 kg hashish from personal possession of a drug supplier identified as Dad Muhammad resident of Harnai.
ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug peddler identified as Shafqat Ali resident of Rawalpindi. Hashish weighing 800 gram was also recoverd from his possession. He was arrested near Bao Jee Pulao Restaurant, Airport Road, Rawalpindi.
ANF Lahore arrested an accused named Muhammad Nadeem resident of Rahim Yar Khan and recovered 109 heroin filled capsules containing 545 grams of heroin. He was arrested near Bilal Daewoo Bus Stand, Vehari Chowk, Multan city.
In another operation, ANF Lahore intercepted an Auto Rickshaw near Allah Hoo CNG Pump, Goal Chakkar, Johar Town, Lahore and recovered 3.6 kg hashish from possession of an accused onboard named Maratab Ali resident of Jhang.
ANF Peshawar, while acting upon a tip-off intercepted a Toyota Corolla car near Pabbi, GT Road, Nowshera, recovering 13 kg hashish and 1.2 kg opium tactfully concealed inside rear doors of the car. A person onboard named Muhammad Zafar Khan was also apprehended during the operation.
ANF Karachi in collaboration with ASF arrested a foreign bound passenger identified as Mehmood resident of Karachi at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi and recovered 1210 Ecstasy Tablets weighing 400 grams concealed in his shoes. The accused intended to board a Doha bound flight by Qatar Airlines.
In another operation, ANF Karachi arrested a local drug supplier identified as Muhammad Rizwan resident of Karachi and recovered 8 kg hashish from his posession. He was arrested near Swat Bus Stand, Banaras, Karachi.
In addition, ANF Karachi raided a house in the area of Shaheen Jinnah Colony, Karachi and seized 35 kg hashish stalked inside the house. According to initial information, the house was being run as a drug den.
All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations are underway.
