SRINAGAR, Aug. 05 (TNS): The joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Saturday said that Hurriyat leaders arrested by India’s National Investigating Agency (NIA) are being subjected to mental torture in New Delhi.
The resistance leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar called it a ploy and deceit played by New Delhi. “They (Indian authorities) have deployed NIA sleuths to harass the leaders. Fictitious cases are being filed against them. It is a well-thought-out plan and ploy to defame movement and harass leadership,” they said.
The leaders lashed at pro-India PDP-led puppet regime and said that as a part of their devilish game, Mehbooba Mufti was utilizing the services of NIA as a war weapon against leadership and thus gagging the genuine voices.
“Mehbooba Mufti has crossed all limits and there is no legal justification for such arbitrary measures. Hurriyat leaders and activists are the main target for the authorities. It is a pre-planned psychological crackdown so that we surrender and stop voicing the sentiments of our people,” they added.
The resistance leadership while commenting over extension of judicial remand of Hurriyat leaders, Peer Saifullah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Merajuddin Kalwal and Nayeem Ahmad Khan till 14th August and handing over of Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmad Dar and Ayaz Akbar to judicial custody till 1st September, said that the NIA was prolonging their detention on fabricated and fictitious charges.
The leaders also expressed concern over the ill-treatment being meted out to the All Parties Hurriyat Conference General Secretary, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, in Delhi court and condemned his continued illegal detention.
Paying glowing tributes to youth recently martyred by Indian troops, the leaders said, “We are duty bound to carry the mission of our martyrs to its logical end.”
They also condemned the raids by Indian police on the office of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir at Maisuma in Srinagar.
