Overall revenue collection shows 70 percent growth: says Dar

Islamabad, Aug 12 (TNS): Minister for Finance Mohammad Ishaq Dar said on Saturday that overall revenue collection in the country had showed over 70 percent growth during last four years.

Addressing the customs chief collectors, director generals conference at the Federal Board of Revenue headquarters, he called upon senior officials to double their efforts for meeting the collection target for the current fiscal year.

“This momentum should be maintained with dedicated efforts in future as it would contribute significantly to Pakistan Muslim League (N) government’s resolve for inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the country”, said Dar.

He assured full support to the officials in this regard and welcomed the initiative to hold the conference as it provide good opportunity for interaction and sharing of professional experiences.  The minister said that customs along with the Inland Revenue System had an important role to play in enhancing revenue collection.

He said that taking revenue collection from Rs.1946 billion in 2013 to Rs. 3362 billion in 2017 was a creditable achievement by FBR under the PML-N Government. Minister said that tax payers facilitation and strengthening of the tax base should be the hallmark of FBR’s revenue collection policy.
