DHAKA Sept 11 (TNS):   Myanmar is continuing its genocide of the Rohingyas ignoring international pressure, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque has said.

He demanded Myanmar be tried by the international crimes tribunal for committing one of the worst genocides in the history of the world.

After speaking to Rohingyas on Monday, who fled to Bangladesh in the last two weeks, Reazul said there was a campaign to exterminate Muslims in the Rakhine state.

An estimated 300,000 Rohingyas have already arrived in Bangladesh, fleeing the latest spate of violence triggered by militants’ attack on dozens of police posts and an army base on August 25.

Myanmar denies the Rohingyas citizenship and calls them illegal immigrant from Bangladesh.

At a media briefing, Reazul claimed Myanmar was emptying Rakhine, a strategically important place, of the Rohingyas with the aid of some influential countries.

He put forth three suggestions and demanded full implementation of the Kofi Annan commissionrecommendations.
