Political stability under surgical strikes: Ahsan

Lahore, Feb 24(TNS): Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said on Saturday that country’s political stability was under surgical strikes by unseen forces.

Taking to the media, Ahsan said that Pakistan was facing conspiracies and country’s enemies were working to spread anarchy. He said that any person or institution pushing the country towards anarchy could not be considered a friend.

He said that Pakistan was facing the threat of surgical strikes from India but the country was also facing similar internal threats these days. There is no room for this. Why are we becoming own won enemy, the interior minister questioned.

Responding to a question, he said that certain steps taken in the last few days were creating the impression that ‘target killing’ is underway in politics.

He said that the citizens were well aware of everything and analyze everything closely. He said that the PML-N was not facing any internal rift despite facing adverse political atmosphere.

He said that in fact, the graph of the party was seeing an upward trajectory. He called for the supremacy of Parliament as being the topmost institution and protector the country and the country. “The Parliament is the representative body of the people of Pakistan and it makes legislation be it the appointment of judges or their retirement age,” he said.

Ahsan also said that the decision of the Financial Action Task Force to place Pakistan on the grey-list will come into force in June if the country fails to make corrections adumbrated by the watchdog. He said that the US-sponsored resolution against Pakistan was based on political grounds to pressure the country. He said that the country was on the FATF greylist until 2015 and despite that, Pakistan’s economy turned around. He dispelled the impression that the greylist sword will have negative implications for the country.

Ahsan said that Pakistan has made concerted efforts to combat terrorism. He said that Pakistan was fighting terrorism not to please the US but to secure the future of the country.
