Only democratic set up will take country forward: PM

Lahore March 24 (TNS): Ruling out the possibility of any judicial coup or a martial law, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi said on Saturday that the very democratic dispensation will take the country forward after 2018 elections.

Inaugurating the first ever CCV cable and aluminum alloy plant at Sundar Industrial Area in Lahore, the premier said that there was no possibility of any judicial coup or a martial law and the country could not afford unconstitutional moves, which have prove a death knell for the system in the past.

He said that the next general election will be held in July and whosoever or whatsoever party is elected by the people will carry forward the development work.

The premier said that the incumbent government has carried out extensive work in different spheres including infrastructure and energy sectors.

He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government has added 10,000 megawatts to the national grid while work on vital energy projects was underway to meet the future demand of the country.

He said that country’s economy was expected to grow by five to six percent in the next one-year.

PM Abbasi said that the government was endeavouring to provide an enabling environment to industrialists and entrepreneurs to make an investment in the energy sector, which at times was risky and profitable both.

He said that they were in talks with the opposition to chalk out an agenda for the continuity of policies even if another party takes on power from the current ruling party so that the industrial growth and other development works did not suffer.
