Berlin April 24,(TNS): German club RB Leipzig playmaker Emil Forsberg was banned for the rest of the season following a red card at the weekend in their 5-2 home defeat against Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim. German Football Association confirmed on Tuesday.

The surprise runners-up of last year’s German League will be without their integral part of the team in their quest to reach the top four in order to qualify for the Champions League.

The Swedish Midfielder was handed a three-game suspension and it means that he will no longer feature at the business end of the Bundes Liga Campaign.

The midfielder nudged his opponent in the neck as he tried to break free from a challenge during a game against Hoffenheim on Saturday.

RB Leipzig now has a very slim chance of qualifying for the champions league top four places, as they sit in 6th place in the Bundesliga table. They are 4 points behind Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen who hover in fourth place. Only Top four clubs qualify for Lucrative Champions League competition.

Leipzig’s last three games are against Mainz 05 VfL Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin. Out of which Wolfsburg can prove out to be a telling fixture.
