Federer made history by winning 8th Wimbledon title

Wimbledon, July 16 (TNS): Swiss tennis star Roger Federer made history by lifting eighth Wimbledon trophy.

Federer, 35, who did not regain the No. 1 ranking after Sunday epic triumph but made a new record which cannot be broken in near future.

By defeating Marin Cilic in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, 6-4, the Swiss star grabbed his eighth Wimbledon singles championship and 19th Grand Slam singles title.

Sunday triumph also made Federer the oldest man to win Wimbledon title.

Earlier, William Renshaw and Pete Sampras have won Wimbledon seven times each.
