Abbasi, Shah discuss caretaker set up


Islamabad April 11 (TNS): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Wednesday discussed the caretaker setup leading up to the next general election.

The current government completes its term by the end of May and the next general election is expected by the end of July.

The prime minister and the opposition leader met for the third time to discuss the nitty-gritty details of the caretaker setup and the prime minister.

PM Abbasi told Shah that he will get back to him after taking the allied parties into confidence about the caretaker set up and the stopgap prime minister.

The premier and the opposition leader also discussed the upcoming budget, which is expected to be presented on April 28.

Shah also met with PTI parliamentary leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi and apprised him of his meeting with the prime minister.

Meanwhile, Shah and Qureshi have floated the suggestion that the current government presented the budget for four months and the rest of the budget will be presented by the next government after the general election.
