Drug prices hiked up to 100%, citizens shocked, DRAP napping

ISLAMABAD,23 Sep (TNS): Drug Regulatory Authority Pakistan (DRAP) was established to ensure that every Pakistani has access to quality treatment at affordable costs and keep a hawks eye on the pharmaceutical companies and drug mafia to prevent them to exploit poor health condition of Pakistani people. However, the performance suggests it of being completely on the other side.

Affordability of medicines seems to be of low importance to policy makers in Pakistan. In recent months, prices of hundreds of general to life-saving medicines have increased greatly, making them unaffordable to residents with low and middle incomes. For some of these medicines, a price increase of over 100% has been observed.
