ISLAMABAD, June 07 (TNS): Opposition members in the Senate Wednesday demanded of the government to take serious steps for the recovery of Colonel Rtd Habib who went missing in Nepal.
The House discussed in detail the disappearance of Col. (Retd) Habib in Nepal who they said was kidnapped by the Indian intelligence agency RAW.
Leader of the Opposition Aitzaz Ahsan regretted the silence of the government on the matter and said urgent steps at all levels were needed for the recovery of the retired army officer.
Other members said that the Indian intelligence agency RAW is behind the abduction of the retired colonel. They said the government should take serious steps for the recovery of Colonel Habib. They said that Colonel Habib was not a spy but was in search of a job. They said the government should take this matter to the United Nations and the ICJ as the Indian side has committed a crime by abducting an innocent person.
Winding up discussion on the motion, Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch said that the government has taken up the matter with the Indian and Nepalese governments to trace out the retired Colonel. He said the government is not oblivious to its responsibilities and will make all out efforts in the case of Colonel Habib. He said we are sure like anybody else that the Indian agency RAW is behind the kidnapping of Colonel Habib.
