Govt will work with CCI to roll out health policy: PM


Islamabad April 13 (TNS): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Friday that the government will take the Council of Common Interests on board to thrash out a cohesive national health policy.
Speaking at a ceremony to mark World Health Day in Islamabad, the premier said the government will also make available necessary resources to carry out a national health survey before rolling out the new health policy.
Abbasi pledged to ensure a quality health care for the people across the country. The premier said that though after the 18th constitutional amendment, the health subject had been devolved to federating subjects, the federal government will not stay back in fulfilling its responsibility in providing the best health facilities to the denizens.
He said that the Prime Minister’s Health Programme was targeting the poorest segment of the society and called for expanding the health scheme. He said that immunization programme had been augmented and the country was in the last stage of eliminating the poliovirus. Tuberculosis is also being targeted through an aggressive programme, he said adding that the government was also focusing on the issue of malnutrition, population programme and the human resource development.
