Liquor shops to close from 8 to 10th of Muharram

KARACHI Sept 26 (TNS):  Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has directed that all liquor shops will remain closed from 8 to 10th of Muharram in veneration for the holy month.

Any violation of the order will be dealt with strict disciplinary action, according to the press release by the Sindh Government’s information department.

He also took notice of news reports regarding illegal intoxicants being peddled in Karachi’s central and eastern districts and directed Director General Excise and Taxation & Anti-narcotics to monitor the performance of officers in the two districts during the last six months.

The provincial minister said it is incumbent upon the excise officers to protect the young generation from the poison of narcotics.
