NA speaker summons MNAs to verify resignations

ISLAMABAD April 20 (TNS): Four of the six MNAs who have parted ways with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz have been summoned on Friday by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq for verification of their resignations.
According to officials, the MNAs, Khusro Bakhtiar, Basit Bukhari, Tahir Bashir Cheema and Qasim Noon, have been called to verify their resignations. The lawmakers were part of a group that has announced a mass resignation to launch a movement to make southern Punjab a separate province.
On April 9, Bakhtiar said that they have started a movement called Junoobi Punjab Suba Mahaaz to create a new province. “Making south Punjab a separate province is our one-point agenda,” he said.
“I greatly admire and respect Lahore but cannot forget the pain of south Punjab where my ancestors are buried,” Bakhtiar added.
The lawmakers said their alliance will be led by former interim prime minister Balakh Sher Mazari and Sardar Dareshak will be the co-chairperson of the alliance.
