Islamabad June 14 (TNS): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will appear before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the Panama Papers case at the tomorrow (Thursday).
The JIT in its letter dated June 8 had asked the prime minister to appear before it at 11am with all relevant documents.
PM’s sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz have already recorded their statements.
The JIT has also issued summons to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to appear on Saturday.
It is for the first time in the country’s history that a sitting prime minister will appear before any investigating agency probe money-laundering allegations against a public officer holder.
Meanwhile, special security measures have been put in place outside the Federal Judicial Academy, where the JIT is headquartered, ahead of the prime minister’s appearance before the probe team.
