Islamabad, June 13 (TNS): Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to file a petition in the Supreme Court against medical colleges giving illegal admissions by violating central admission policy.
PMDC has introduced this policy in October last year, which made it possible to enroll students on merit.
But private medical colleges filed several petitions against PMDC’s central admission policy and taken stay order from the court.
PMDC now decided to take the issue to Chief Justice of Pakistan and to Human Right Cell of the apex court.
The medical body had warned 14 private colleges which were violating central admission policy but these colleges moved the court and taken stay orders to continue illegal admissions.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had introduced the admission policy for public and private medical and dental colleges in October 2016. The new policy was aimed to induct students purely on merit. These regulations called the MBBS and BDS (Admissions, House job and Internship) Regulations, 2016.
